Man Sentenced Following Stabbing Incident in Rhyl

A man who repeatedly stabbed another male during a violent assault in Rhyl has been jailed.

Appearing at Mold Crown Court this week, 48-year-old Steven Marcus Boyd, of Pleasant View Caravan Park, Abbey Road, Rhuddlan, was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife.

The incident occurred on South Kinmel Street, Rhyl on 6 November 2024.

Officers attended reports of a violent altercation outside of a residential address, in which a 34-year-old male had sustained wounding injuries.

Upon arrival, officers found paramedics already attending to the victim who had suffered six puncture wounds to his upper left back, consistent with a knife attack.

Boyd, who had fled the scene, was identified by eyewitnesses as the attacker.

He was subsequently located and arrested near Chester train station.

After entering guilty pleas to both charges at a trial hearing last month, Boyd was sentenced to five years in prison.

He must also serve an additional two years on licence.

Detective Inspector Richard Evans said: “This was a traumatic incident for the victim, who suffered painful and serious injuries.

“Incidents involving knives are unpredictable and have the potential to escalate rapidly into something far more tragic.

“We also recognise that the impact of this event extends beyond the victim - local residents who witnessed the aftermath were understandably shocked and distressed.

“I want to reassure the community that tackling knife crime remains a top priority for North Wales Police.

“We continue to work closely with partner agencies and the public to remove dangerous weapons from our streets and bring offenders to justice.

“Accordingly, a detailed and thorough investigation took place in relation to this incident - which has resulted in a significant custodial sentence for the offender.”
