Young people across Wrexham and Flintshire are being encouraged to apply to join the Volunteer Police Cadets as recruitment officially opens for new members.
The Volunteer Police Cadet programme offers young people aged between 13 and 18 the opportunity to learn about policing, develop valuable life skills, support their local communities, and take part in a wide range of activities and events alongside North Wales Police.
Cadets meet every Tuesday evening at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Llay between 6:30pm and 8pm, where they take part in engaging sessions covering topics such as community safety, teamwork, leadership, first aid, crime prevention and an introduction to various areas of policing.
The programme is designed to inspire young people, build confidence and encourage positive relationships between young people and the police. Cadets also have opportunities to volunteer at community events, support local initiatives, and develop key skills that can benefit them in education, employment and everyday life.
Andrew Harris from the Citizens in Policing Team said: “The Volunteer Cadet Programme provides an excellent opportunity for young people to gain new experiences, develop important life skills, and make a positive contribution to their communities. We're not looking to recruit future police officers but want to give all young people a chance to be heard, support the community and develop skills to become fantastic citizens in a fun, friendly and exciting way.
“We are delighted to open recruitment and would encourage anyone interested in learning more about policing and volunteering to submit an application.”
