A man has been jailed after leaving another man with life-changing injuries following a collision in Prestatyn in December 2020.
41-year-old James Price of Tewkesbury Road, Gloucester appeared before Mold Crown Court today (Monday) after previously pleading guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He was sentenced to three years in prison and disqualified from driving for four and a half years.
The collision, which took place on the evening of 9th December 2020, happened on Bodnant Avenue with the junction of Nant Hall Road in Prestatyn involving a Peugeot 208 and a pedestrian.
Price stopped his vehicle, dragged the pedestrian into the middle of the road and left the scene without calling for assistance.
At the time of the collision North Wales Police appealed for witnesses to come forward and following a complex and lengthy investigation, Price was charged.
Sergeant Duncan Logan of the North Wales Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This case is a stark reminder of how dangerous driving can destroy lives in an instant. The victim in this case has suffered life-changing leg injuries because of James Price’s actions and our thoughts remain with him and his family.
“I would like to thank all those who bravely came forward to provide us with the crucial information we needed to pursue a charge against Price.
“We would urge all drivers to think carefully about the consequences of their decisions behind the wheel – one moment of recklessness can change lives forever.”
