A 27-year-old man who stole a car and a van in Mold over the weekend has been jailed.
Ryan Seaman, of Maes y Dre, Mold, caused significant damage to both vehicles after taking them without consent from addresses in Pen y Bryn and Hawthorn Avenue in the early hours of Sunday (January 26th).
At around 5.30am that morning, he drove to the Esso service station in Mold in a car he had stolen from Hawthorn Avenue and filled it up with fuel, for which he made no attempt to pay, along with some alcohol from the shop.
When Seaman was challenged, he ran away towards Mold, abandoning the significantly damaged car on the forecourt.
About 50 minutes earlier, he’d been to the same service station and attempted to use a bank card belonging to the owner of the car to buy over £50 worth of items.
At 7.45am, later that morning, Seaman was arrested after he was found driving a stolen van on Parc Avenue, Mold, which had also been heavily damaged.
He was subsequently charged with two counts of aggravated vehicle taking, shoplifting, making off without paying for fuel and fraud by false representation.
He was also charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis when stopped by officers and driving without a licence or insurance.
He admitted all offences and was sentenced to 60 weeks in prison on Tuesday, January 28th.
He was also banned from driving for four and a half years and fined £187.
Ricky Richardson, 40, of Maes y March, Mold is charged with being carried in one of the stolen vehicles, as well as a shoplifting offence, and will appear before Mold Magistrates Court on Friday, February 28th.
Inspector Iwan Jones said: “Seaman is a prolific offender, and I hope his swift arrest and subsequent sentencing will bring a degree of relief to many in the local community, and particularly the victims involved in these incidents.
“We take such incidents very seriously and will relentlessly pursue those who cause the most harm.”
