A new role dedicated to improving community safety has been introduced to assist Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPT) to protect communities.
A total of 10 officers, along with their NPT colleagues, will co-ordinate visible patrols in targeted hotspot areas of crime and anti-social behaviour.
Patrols will also be directly influenced by reports from the community, and feedback on what residents want to see.
The Community Engagement and Visibility Leads come as part of the Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee, which aims to boost visibility in communities and aims to address anti-social behaviour.
Together with partner agencies, our NPT teams will work to tackle and resolve issues that impact people’s feeling of safety and pride in their local area.
Any action taken will be fed back to residents, so they feel informed about what is being done and what has been achieved.
Community concerns may not always be a police matter, which is why partnership working with local authorities, housing associations and youth and social services is essential to taking a proactive problem-solving approach.
The relevant agency will address problems at an early stage before it is allowed to escalate into something more serious.
Officers will strive to be a visible and trusted presence within their communities to deter offenders and assist in people feeling safe when out and about.
North Wales Police Prevention Lead, Superintendent Helen Douglas, said: “As a force, we continue our commitment to create safe communities in our towns and villages.
“Having visible and accessible officers allow us to provide a meaningful service to North Wales, prioritising action based on what communities tell us they want to see.
“This includes increasing targeted patrols in areas which see the most crime and anti-social behaviour, which is directly influenced by reports from members of the public.
“We continue to strive to make North Wales the safest place to live, work and visit in the UK and will continue to work closely with partners to achieve this.”
