A 44-year-old man who repeatedly attacked his ex-wife has been jailed.
Derek Owen, of Pencraig, Llangefni, appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court on Thursday March 13th after admitting to two counts of assault causing physical harm, two counts of assault by beating and threatening to damage property.
In October 2024, Owen was arguing with his ex-wife when he grabbed her by the face and pinned her down so she couldn’t move.
In November 2024, Owen strangled her, grabbed her by the hair and dragged her down the stairs.
Whilst on bail for these offences, and with conditions not to contact her, Owen attacked his ex-wife again on January 16th and 18th, pushing her head down into a pillow and then grabbing her to stop her from leaving.
She left the address to stay with a friend, but he found her there, and began threatening to damage her friend’s car whilst brandishing a golf club.
He was jailed for two years and three months.
Civilian Investigator Amy Jones said: “Owen’s violence and aggression is truly shocking.
“The victim in this case was incredibly brave to speak out against the abuse she suffered that will no doubt impact her life going forward.”
PC Ffion Roberts said: “I would also commend the victim’s friend for her assistance during the investigations.
“We will not tolerate violence of any kind and will robustly pursue anyone who acts violently towards women and girls.”
