Whether you join us in a uniformed role or as police staff, you can look forward to a range of opportunities for learning and development. From looking to move up the ranks or simply develop new skills, we’ll work with you to help you reach your full potential.

From job shadowing to learn about other roles and units, to studying for leadership qualifications, there are many options for career and personal growth.

Role-specific training

We’ll give you all the abilities you need to do your job, whether that’s out on the front line or behind the scenes in an office-based role.

Leadership development

We want every member of Team NWP to be a confident leader. To achieve this we use a comprehensive range of development tools, from professional secondments and advanced practitioner opportunities, to mentoring and 360 feedback.

Continuous professional development

Every NWP employee receives quarterly and annual appraisals as part of our Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme. As well as recording your progress and checking you’re meeting your personal objectives, the CPD process helps us to identify how you can grow within the organisation.

Financial assistance

Want to study in your spare time? We might be able to help you pay for it. All employees can apply for financial assistance and may receive up to 75% of the course fees. We have helped people to complete courses up to master’s degree level.
