Nigel has served his entire policing career with North Wales Police having joined the service in 1995, starting at as Special Constable in Bangor.
His first posting as a full-time officer was Holyhead on Ynys Mon, before serving in many different ranks, roles, and locations across the force area. Nigel has been in the superintending ranks for over a decade, and during this time has served as the Western area Commander and as the Chief Superintendent in Local Policing Services (LPS) and Operational Support Services (OSS).
Nigel is an experienced Firearms, Public Order, CBRN and Civil Contingences Commander having been a Tactical and Strategic Commander in the respective disciplines. During his time in these roles, Nigel has overseen some of the highest risk and high impact events across North Wales.
Nigel has previously held the role of Assistant Chief Constable both within North Wales, and on an All-Wales basis where he coordinated the Welsh police response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Nigel has additionally taken up the NPCC National Lead for Wildlife Crime and Rural Affairs, and is due to become the NPCC lead for the Forensic Collision Investigation Network.
