Plane crash in Ahmedabad
The UK is working with local authorities in India to urgently establish the facts and provide support to those involved.
As part of an ongoing initiative to help reduce the number of casualties involved in motorcycle collisions an engagement day will be held with road safety partners at Betws-y-Coed on Sunday (May 4) as part of the force’s Op Apex campaign.
With the warm and sunny weather predicted for the bank holiday weekend, officers will attend the National Park’s Cae Llan Car Park (opposite the railway station), along with colleagues and partners from Dyfed Powys Police, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Biker Down, BikeSafe, Blood Bikes, Doc Bike and the North Wales Police Forensic Collision Investigation Unit.
This will be an opportunity for officers to deliver their message and discuss the campaign, which aims to promote rider safety and raise awareness of the risks and behaviours which can lead to motorcycle related fatal and serious injury collisions. Partners will also be there promoting the benefits of attending BikeSafe workshops, discussing future Biker Down events, the importance of wearing the correct kit and some of the causation factors in road traffic collisions.
T/Inspector Jason Diamond, operational lead for Op Apex as part of the Operational Support Services said: “The feedback we had from last year’s biker engagement event was extremely positive as we spoke to several motorcyclists and motorists of all ages.
“We very much hope to have the same level of engagement this year and we would encourage anybody who will be in the Betws-y-Coed area on Sunday to visit us for a chat.”
Using the strapline Will you get home tonight, bags containing free merchandise will be distributed as part of the engagement day, and a digital ad van, with key messages aimed at both motorcyclists and motorists will also be travelling across North Wales, visiting hot spot areas.
