A 26-year-old man has been jailed for domestic violence against his former partner.
Cailum Jones, of Gwenfro, Wrexham, admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm and two counts of assault on the victim.
He appeared at Mold Crown Court today, Thursday, February 6th, where he was jailed for two years.
He was also handed a five-year restraining order to protect the victim.
In the early hours of November 11th last year, officers were called to the victim’s home after Jones had punched her to the face, cutting her face above her lip and chipping her teeth.
He was arrested and later released on bail with conditions not to contact her.
Following his arrest, the victim disclosed Jones had assaulted her on several occasions over a 12-month period.
She reported on two occasions, he had grabbed her by the hair and assaulted her during an argument.
Days after his arrest, Jones breached his bail conditions and was subsequently charged.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Troy Williams said: “Violent behaviour towards women is inexcusable and will not be tolerated.
“I commend the bravery of the victim, who is sadly still suffering with the physical and emotional effects of the incidents, for reporting what had happened to her and for supporting the investigation during an incredibly difficult time.
“I urge victims of domestic abuse to speak up - you will be listened to, and we will fully investigate all reports to bring offenders to justice.”
