Increased patrols will be in effect across Wrexham city this evening (Thursday, January 23rd) as part of matchday policing arrangements.
The EFL League One fixture between Wrexham AFC and Birmingham City will be played at 8pm tonight.
A sell-out crowd has been confirmed at the STōK Cae Ras stadium and around 12,500 fans are expected to attend.
Police resourcing has been escalated to ensure public safety.
Chief Superintendent Nick Evans said: “Supporter and community safety is our primary concern on any matchday, particularly when capacity crowds are in attendance.
“Attending matches in Wrexham should be an enjoyable occasion for all and we will take a strong stance against any kind of football-related disorder.
“As ever, I would urge Wrexham supporters to be a credit to their club for the fixture.”
He added: “North Wales Police and Wrexham Football Club are aligned in our views on fan behaviour at football games and where disorder does occur, we will work collaboratively to identify suspects, pursue criminal proceedings and football banning orders for those involved.
“We know that the great majority of fans behave responsibly and are a credit to the city and to the club.
“As a force, we will continue to work closely with the club, its supporters, and the wider community to ensure that matchdays in Wrexham are safe and enjoyable for all.
“I’d like to thank the wider population of Wrexham for their patience ahead of Thursday’s match.”
Road closures will be in effect in areas around the football ground shortly before full-time to allow supporters to exit the stadium safely.
The closures will be in effect on Mold Road and will restrict vehicles access toward the ground.
When visiting the Racecourse Ground, please adhere to road markings and cones, and park responsibly and with respect to the Club's neighbours.
