The work of North Wales Police has resulted in a rise in a number of key categories, taking it to the top spot in four and being included in the top five in a number of others.
The data, which forms part of the Crime Survey England and Wales, was released at the end of April and shows that overall confidence remains high at 72.8%, putting North Wales as the fifth highest ranking force in England and Wales.
Chief Constable Amanda Blakeman said: “The perception of crime in our community is really important for us to understand and the results from the perception survey show that our work has resulted in some real positive outcomes here.
“The survey has also shown that North Wales has the highest ranking for treating the public with respect. This is testament to the professionalism of our staff, and a reflection of the significant hard work they have done in building trust with our communities and I thank them for that.
‘I am incredibly proud that we are working to make North Wales the safest place to live, work and visit in the UK, and the results of this survey and others for 2023 show that we are taking real steps towards achieving this.
“Some of the measures we have introduced which have contributed to this are creating a dedicated Stalking and Harassment Officer, the work of our Design Out Crime teams, who work with local authorities to make new housing developments safer both night and day, the work of our We Don’t Buy Crime team who have worked extremely hard to support victims of burglary and prevent further offences. They have visited 1,407 farms since May 2023 and 3,511 homes since March 2023.
“In addition, I would like to highlight the relentless work of our frontline officers and investigators who pursue offenders, prevent offences and protect our communities.”
