This week we are joining forces across the UK to honour the contribution made by police staff.
Police Community Support Officers (PSCOs) are uniformed police staff who work closely with residents and partner agencies to tackle anti-social behaviour and improve quality of life for local communities.
PCSO Shannon Llwyd-Hopcroft is based in the Dolgellau area of South Gwynedd and has been doing the role for almost six years after joining in 2017.
PCSO Shannon said: “I joined as a PCSO as I wanted to work within the community and make a difference in people’s lives.
“Working within a tight knit team makes the job so rewarding. Within this role, I get to be outdoors whilst on high visibility foot patrol meeting and talking to new people.”
Shannon also volunteered for two years as a Special Constable for North Wales Police.
“I have had to deal with numerous jobs which can be mentally and physically draining. I’ve been involved in several operations including targeting illegal off roaders, targeting shoplifting, and targeting knife crime. I have also given several presentations in local colleges and schools on important topics such as bullying and cybercrime.
“No day is the same in this job and I look forward to many more years working for North Wales Police.”
