Persistent Holyhead offender jailed after assault on police

A Holyhead man has been jailed after assaulting two police officers.
Brian George Owens, of Min y Mor Road, Holyhead, appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court on March 8th after admitting assaulting two police officers and breaching his criminal behaviour order (CBO).
The 33-year-old was jailed for 12 months, and his CBO was extended until 2029.
The incident happened at around 9.30pm in Holyhead on February 12th when officers driving in the area of Stanley Street, Holyhead saw Owens, who was wanted by police, in the front passenger seat of a taxi.
They stopped the taxi and asked Owens to get out, but he kicked one of the officers to the chest and ran off.
Following a short foot chase, he was eventually caught attempting to scale a wall. When officers grabbed him to prevent him going any further, he struck another officer to the face.
PC Greg Horsman said: “Owens is a persistent offender in the community, and we welcome this sentence as a reflection that such behaviour will not be tolerated.”
