Wrexham supporter receives five-year Football Banning Order

A Wrexham supporter has been issued with a five-year Football Banning Order for disorder-related offences at an away game.

Lewis James Hallam, 31, of Hampden Road, Wrexham appeared at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 6 June.

He pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour whilst attending Wrexham’s League Two fixture against Accrington Stanley on 18 November, 2023.

Hallam, who has previous convictions for football-related disorder, will now be prohibited from attending matches for five years.

Superintendent Simon Barrasford said: “As a force, North Wales Police is clear in its views on fan behaviour at football games.

“We know that the overwhelming majority of fans behave responsibly and are a credit to the town and the club they represent.

“However, we must reiterate that anyone found to have been involved in disorder will be dealt with in the strictest terms.

“We take all instances of unacceptable behaviour at games seriously, and take robust action against those responsible.

“Football Banning Orders are imposed to prevent disorder and/or violence at games and are a strong deterrent.

“We work collaboratively with the United Kingdom Football Policing Unit (UKFPU) and fully support their efforts to reduce violence, anti-social behaviour and disorder at football events.

“As such, we will continue to work with all relevant agencies to enforce these orders where necessary, whether it occurs at home or away games.

“Disorderly behaviour in and around football grounds will not be tolerated.”
