CodeSecure is the UK’s first Cyber Protect and Prevent hackathon event that will run on Friday 16th February at Wrexham University.
The North Wales Police Cyber Crime Team, supported by Wrexham University and Cyber Wales, will set a challenge for participants to create real life solutions to cybercrime.
This free event will see police join forces with industry professionals, students, cybersecurity enthusiasts and passionate individuals to collaborate on approaches to help inform members of the public and businesses about how to stay safe and secure online.
Once ideas have been developed, individuals and teams will also have a chance to showcase their work to a panel of experts who will judge the solutions proposed on the day.
PC Dewi Owen of the Cyber Crime Team said: “Everyone will know someone who has been affected by online fraud, cybercrime or computer misuse. The Codesecure Hackathon aims to bring people together to develop innovative and exciting ideas that will make a real difference and will allow us to protect communities and businesses across North Wales from the latest Cyber threats.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of individuals as part of the first event of this kind in the UK, which will be dedicated to developing groundbreaking ways to use new equipment in our effort to reduce and prevent cybercrime.”
“We look forward to seeing students, industry experts, police and other enthusiasts all working together to develop ways to keep others safe in an ever-evolving landscape of cyber security. Everyone is welcome.”
The best ideas on the day will be developed and used by NWP Cybercrime team and there will be certificates awarded to everyone who participates as well as small prizes for the best ideas.
