A 24-year-old man has been jailed after attacking his partner in August this year.
Ricky Harper, of Galaxy Grove, Brynteg, Wexham, appeared at Mold Crown Court today, Tuesday December 10th, after admitting to intentionally strangling a woman.
Harper’s partner tried to leave an address following an argument but whilst she was on the phone, he jumped on top of her, pinning her down and gripping her by the throat until she struggled to breathe.
The woman pushed him away, but he continued his attack, punching her to the face, stamping on her stomach and dragging her by the hair, leaving her fearful for her life.
The woman eventually left the address and reported the incident to the police. Harper was arrested later the same day.
He was jailed for 21 months.
Sergeant Rhys Gough said: “Violent behaviour towards women is inexcusable and will not be tolerated.
“The victim has shown considerable bravery in coming forward to report what happened to her following a traumatic and terrifying experience. Her bravery throughout this investigation should be commended.
“I would urge anyone to speak up if they are a victim of domestic abuse. You will be listened to, and we will fully investigate any report to bring offenders to justice.”
