A 38-year-old man has been jailed after stabbing his friend’s ex-partner.
Kevin Marshall, of Burnside Court, Dundee, and Vari Heeps, 47, of Nimrod Walk, Holyhead, appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court on Tuesday December 17th after both admitting to aggravated burglary.
Marshall also admitted to wounding without intent and possession of a knife in a public place.
On June 13th 2024, Marshall and Heeps, along with 39-year-old Lisa Stewart, trespassed into Stewart’s ex-partner’s home in Holyhead whilst he lay asleep in his bed.
The man woke to hear the three friends shouting outside at around 3am and rang the police with concerns.
Whilst still on the call, his window was smashed and moments later his front door was forced open.
Marhsall, holding a knife, and Heeps, carrying a glass bottle, entered his home along with Stewart, who assaulted him.
The situation escalated when Marshall stabbed the man to the shoulder and arm before taking his wallet and leaving the address.
The man ran outside where he met police who had just arrived.
Kevin Marshall was jailed for two years and eight months.
Vari Heeps received a 12-month suspended sentence.
Both Heeps and Marshall were made subject of a restraining order preventing them from contacting the victim lasting 10 years.
Lisa Stewart, of Yr Hen Iard Goed, Holyhead, also admitted to being involved in the incident, and has been further remanded into custody to be sentenced in January.
Detective Constable Will Leon-Portillo said: “Carrying a knife is simply unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
“It is lucky that Marshall’s actions did not cause more serious injuries, which could easily have been the case.
“Burglaries not only have significant effects on individuals, but also the communities in which they are committed. Everyone should feel safe and secure at home without the fear of intrusion.”
