Football banning order for Wrexham fan after away game disorder during minute’s silence

 

A Wrexham AFC supporter has been issued a three-year football banning order following disorderly behaviour at a Wrexham AFC match.

Darren Bryan, 42, of Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire, appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court on Tuesday, November 28th, where he was charged with using threatening or abusive behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

The incident took place during a cup game against Mansfield Town on Saturday, November 4th at the One Call Stadium, Mansfield, when Bryan interrupted a minute’s silence.

The banning order will prevent him from attending any football matches in the UK for the duration of the order.

Chief Inspector Caroline Mullen-Hurst said: “Disruptive behaviour at home or away matches will not be tolerated and will result in football banning orders being issued.

“All instances of unacceptable behaviour are taken very seriously, and robust action is taken against those responsible.

“We will continue to work closely with the club to issue FBOs where needed, and we are grateful for the assistance of Nottinghamshire Police in dealing with the matter so swiftly on the night and in the prosecution.”

A spokesperson for Wrexham AFC said: "Thank you to North Wales Police for their swift action on this case. This individual does not represent the values of the Football Club and our supporters, who continue to follow us home and away in great number and support the Club in the best way.

"This is another reminder that disorderly behaviour will not be tolerated at Wrexham AFC matches, home or away, and anybody engaging in unacceptable behaviour will be dealt with in the strictest possible way."
