Domestic Abuse Officers have purchased safety equipment for victims of domestic abuse after being awarded a grant of £2000 from PACT.
The funding was granted by the North Wales Police and Community Trust (PACT), who provide funding to projects that reduce crime and enhance the quality of life for the communities of North Wales.
With the funding, officers have purchased safety items that can be given to high-risk victims of domestic abuse in Gwynedd and Anglesey to provide reassurance and to help them feel safer in their homes.
The equipment will make homes more secure through the installation of specialist door and window locks, intruder alarms and in some cases, CCTV. Further items now available include mobile phones, personal safety alarms and torches.
Domestic Abuse Officer, PC Ellen Love, said: “We are grateful for the funding provided by PACT that will allow us to enhance the service available to victims of domestic abuse.
“Ultimately our aim is to ensure victims feel completely supported by us. This equipment will go a long way in helping victims to feel safer in their homes, when out and about and give them the reassurance that they can contact us if they need us.”
PACT Manager, Dave Evans, said: “We are delighted to be able to support PC Love and her colleagues with such a worthwhile initiative that will help to support victims across Gwynedd and Anglesey.”
Supporting victims of domestic abuse and violence continues to be a North Wales Police priority. If you have any concerns about domestic abuse, contact police directly or seek support from Live Fear Free.
