Matchday policing for Wrexham AFC v Oldham Althletic – Sunday, November 6

Increased patrols will be in effect across Wrexham town centre on Sunday, 6TH November as part of matchday policing arrangements.

Wrexham AFC’s FA Cup first round fixture at home to Oldham Athletic will take place on Sunday, November 6th.

Kick-off is at 12.30pm and a sell-out crowd is expected at The Racecourse.

Following disorder in Oldham at the last fixture between both teams on Saturday, October 1, police resourcing has been escalated in Wrexham to ensure public safety and prevent further incidents.

Chief Superintendent, Mark Williams said: “North Wales Police and Wrexham Football Club are aligned in our views on fan behaviour at football games and will take a strong stance against any kind of football-related disorder.

“Attending matches at The Racecourse should be an enjoyable occasion for all, and, as a result, supporter safety is our primary concern, particularly where large crowds are in attendance.

“Where disorder does occur, we will work collaboratively with the club to identify suspects, pursue criminal proceedings and FBOs for those involved.”

A total of 12 Football Banning Orders (FBOs) have been issued by the courts to Wrexham fans found guilty of matchday disruption since the beginning of the year.

Ch Supt Williams added: “We hope FBOs and their stringent enforcement will continue to act as a strong deterrent to anyone intent on causing disorder. They are strongly prohibitive and ensure that those found guilty of football disorder are kept distanced from the game.

“I would urge all Wrexham supporters to be a credit to the town and the club they represent on Sunday.”

Road closures will be in effect in areas around the football ground shortly before full-time to allow supporters to exit the stadium safely.

The closures will be in effect on Mold Road and will restrict vehicles access toward the ground.

When visiting the Racecourse Ground, please adhere to road markings and cones, and park responsibly and with respect to the Club's neighbours.
