Update in relation to the fatal road traffic collision on the A5025 on Anglesey on Friday, 19th February:

Sergeant Meurig Jones of the Roads Policing Unit said: “Our heartfelt condolences remain with the family and friends of Stuart Farnell at this incredibly difficult time.

“Further to our media appeal that was issued on Saturday 20th February in relation to the fatal road traffic collision that was reported to us shortly after 11pm on Friday the 19th February, on the A5025 between Valley and Llanynghenedl; we are now appealing for anyone who may have seen a white Ford Transit pick up type vehicle travelling in the north Anglesey area, in particular along the A5025 corridor between Valley and Amlwch or the nearby villages between the times of 20:30-22:30 on Friday 19th February to contact us.

“We are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have seen such a vehicle with significant damage to its windscreen area, or who may have seen this type of vehicle parked up or stopped somewhere between the said times.

“The 46-year-old man who was arrested in connection with this incident has since been released under investigation and our enquiries are ongoing, including the examination of his vehicle which was seized.

Anybody who may have information that could assist with the ongoing investigation is urged to contact North Wales Police on 101 or via the live web chat by quoting reference numbers Z023761 or 21000110414. Alternatively please contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Incident on the A5025: Man arrested

Police have today named the 38- year-old victim of the road traffic collision on the A5025 between Valley and Llanynghenedl on Friday night as Stuart Farnell from the Stockport area.

His family have paid this tribute: -

"Stuart was a much loved father, son and brother. His loss is devastating and has caused wounds that won't heal. To lose a loved one in such a way is an indescribable pain. We are all devastated by his loss, his parents and daughter are broken.  Stuart will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, as a character who never failed to make you smile.  His daughter Payton has lost her best friend, the best dad in the world.  Stuart was her number one and she was his.  We loved him so much and miss him with all of our heart."

DCI Brian Kearney said: “Following our appeal on Saturday, a local person has contacted police that afternoon. He was subsequently arrested and a vehicle seized in connection with this ongoing investigation.

I would be grateful if anyone who was travelling along the A5025 between Valley and Llanynghenedl between 2030hrs and 2200hrs on Friday the 19th of February 2021 would contact the police on 101 quoting incident number Z023761.”

Fatal collision on the A5025: Appeal

A 38-year-old male has been found dead on the A5025 between Valley and Llanynghenedl on Anglesey last night.

Shortly after 11pm on Friday the 19th of February 2021, police received calls from members of the public reporting a male who was unresponsive by the roadside.

Despite the best efforts of members of the public who stopped to assist, tragically a 38-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene.

DCI Brian Kearney stated: “This is a tragic incident in which a 38-year-old male has lost his life. It is likely that this victim had been hit by an unidentified vehicle(s) which did not remain at the scene.

“Family liaison officers are supporting the family who are deeply traumatised by not only the fact that they have lost their love one, but also that the driver of any vehicle concerned failed to remain at the scene. I would urge the person or person(s) in any vehicle involved to come forward. If anyone has any information about this incident then please contact the police. We will treat any information received confidentially.

“I would like to thank the members of public who did stop and tried to save this person’s life.

"I am appealing to anyone who was in any of the areas listed below, between 8.20pm and 11.30pm on Friday the 19th of February 2021.

  • on the A5025 between Valley and Llanfachraeth
  • or Llanynghenedl and Bodedern
  • or anyone who has dashcam footage in those areas or in and around the Valley area to come forward, quoting incident number Z023761. Please ring 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
