The talented children of Officers and Staff at North Wales Police have been busy designing the North Wales Police Christmas Card.

The talented children of Officers and Staff at North Wales Police have been busy designing the North Wales Police Christmas Card.

In October, Chief Constable Carl Foulkes invited the children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews of his workforce to submit their designs. Chief Constable Foulkes had the unenviable task of picking the winner. It would then be sent to print and become the NWP official Christmas card to be sent to Officers, Staff, Volunteers at North Wales Police, and partner agencies.

The Chief Constable decided that Erin aged 11 was the worthy winner.

Erin's Mum and Dad both work at North Wales Police - her Dad being a Chief Inspector and her Mum working within Corporate Services.

Chief Constable Foulkes said "It really was a difficult decision to make – when it comes to a major incident I have no problem making decisions, but this was totally different. Erin's design really made me smile. And it embodies what we are about - always working, protecting our communities, even on Christmas Eve when Santa is out on his deliveries.

"It's really important to me that we bring people in the organisation together whenever we can. This was a really nice way in which to do that, so a big thank you and well done to everyone who entered."

Almost 90 entries landed on the Chief's desk from across the age groups, from under 3 years up to 16 years, which are now all available to view in this video montage.

The police family link doesn't end there. The video montage also includes music written and performed by Sara Davies, who is the daughter of Police Sergeant Aled Davies. Sara, 23 and from Old Colwyn is now a music teacher in Tregaron.

Sara said "I was on the other side of the world last Christmas, away from my family and friends when I wrote this song. The song remains special to me, especially after the year we have had – families may still not be able to be close this Christmas due to the impact of pandemic – and as always, there will be hundreds of people working at North Wales Police on Christmas Day, away from their family. Listening to it along with all of these fantastic drawings from the police family is absolutely perfect."

You can download and stream 'Nadolig ym Mhen Draw'r Byd' on Spotify, Amazon, Apple and iTunes.
