Youth-related ASB and shoplifting offences in Mold

In recent weeks we have noted a concerning increase in anti-social behaviour and shoplifting offences committed by youths within Mold town centre.

Predominantly, these incidents are occurring after 3.30pm on weekdays and over the weekends.

Some of the youths involved were sighted wearing their school uniform.

Sgt Kerry Nash said: "A significant number of the occurrences reported to us have been supported by CCTV from the premises involved.

"As a result we have been working closely with the local schools to identify those responsible.

"We are in the process of speaking with parents of the students identified in order to arrange interviews at the police station in relation to their involvement in these offences.

"There are a number of possible outcomes for offenders, which include out of court disposals, referrals to the Youth Justice Service, or being charged to appear in court.

"Shop staff in Mold have the right to be able to go to work without being abused or intimidated by youths and we will be taking robust action against those identified.

"This is a plea therefore, to you as parents, to ensure that you know where your children are going after school, who they are with and what they are doing."
